Week 6 - MBA 6101 - Google Ads
This blog post is going to look at my google ads campaign and my utilisation of the google ads app that is available on both iOS and Android's respective app stores. All screenshots are taken from the iOS google ads application. This was my first time using the app and I think that it is much easier to understand and has a much more friendly user interface when looking to find key information and metrics relating to your advertisement.
For my campaign, I decided to set a budget of $91 for the month, this correlated to around $3 per day:
I was only charged this fee on 2 occasions as my ad did not reach a large enough audience to trigger further payment. This is something I do like about the platform as you only pay for results and not just the hope of getting results. From my perspective, this is great business practise by Google!
I picked the following geographical region to show my campaign. I also allowed the ad to be active 24 hours, 7 days a week with no time limits or restrictions.
I targeted my advertising campaign to the state of Arizona as this is where I was living therefore I thought it would be interesting to see how the local community responds to my advert. As this was just a proof of concept, it could have been done in any geographic area and the results could still be understood all the same.
One of my favourite things about the Google ads application was certainly, as previously stated above, the ease of use and speed of access when looking for real time metrics and performance updates regarding your advertising campaign. On the application there was also as section to 'preview' your advert and get a live viewing of how the advertisement is looking to potential consumers. This means it is fairly easy to adjust and modify your campaign to improve results, marketing efficiency and return on investment (ROI).
After the week long advertisement campaign, I was able to view my performance metrics through the app with great ease. For this campaign the results were hindered slightly as a few days into my campaign I received notification from Google that there was problem with my advertisement and some slight adjustments needed to be made. This flag was a good learning curve for me as it caused me to delve deeper into the web-based platform and gain an overall greater understanding of how to utilise Google Ads.
Although there was no direct clicks on my campaign I feel like I got a much deeper understanding of an application/marketing tool that I am sure will be of great use in the future in my career. I am going to keep learning this app to the best of my ability and am certainly going to look into some extra courses and qualifications to complete that will assist with improving my ROI.
